The European Commission adopted on 6 October the legislative proposal amending Regulation (EC) No 1082/2006 on a European grouping of territorial cooperation.
The Commissioner of Regional Policy, Dr Johannes Hahn, handed to the President of the CoR Ms Mercedes Bresso the proposal of amended Regulation on EGTC during the Open Days celebrated in Brussels.
The European Commission adopted on 6 October the legislative proposal amending Regulation (EC) No 1082/2006 on a European grouping of territorial cooperation (EGTC) as regards the clarification, simplification and improvement of the establishment and implementation of such groupings. This text complements the report on the application of the EGTC Regulation adopted on 29 July.
Ms Mercedes Bresso handed to the Commissioner the list of EGTC notified to the CoR according to Art. 5 of the Regulation. This list contains 23 EGTC in 14 Member States, and includes a map for the first time.
The CoR has appointed Mr Michel Delebarre (FR/PES), Chairman of the Commission COTER and Mayor of Dunkerque, as rapporteur on this text. The proposal of opinion will be adopted by COTER on 6 December and by the plenary session of the CoR in february 2012.
