Pons Danubii Limited Liability European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation
The Pons Danubii Limited Liability European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (Pons Danubii EGTC) was established by 3 Slovak (Komárno, Hurbanovo, Kolárovo) and 3 Hungarian (Komárom, Tata, Kisbér) municipalities. It was officially registered on 15 December 2010, and was joined by the town of Oroszlány on 12 October 2011. The EGTC promotes the interests of approximately 270,000 residents of seven towns.
The Pons Danubii EGTC participated in 6 larger EU projects in the 2007-2013 period, and 7 additional projects in the 2014-2020 period. Pons Danubii implemented the INSiGHTS project under the Interreg Danube Transnational Cooperation Programme as the leading partner of an international partnership, with 11 other organisations.
The strategic goal of Pons Danubii is to create a network of cycle routes along the Danube that connects the settlements in the region (simultaneous development of cycling infrastructure and services). The largest infrastructure project of this period (cycle routes between Komárom and Kolárovo and around Fort Monostor) also served this purpose.
It develops the cycling-related services in the region under the KOMBI project: a cross-border cycle rental system will be established with 130 bicycles and 14 docking stations in 9 towns.
The grouping prepared and is managing an innovative tourism project to create new thematic parks in 9 towns presenting one another’s architectural heritage (CULTPLAY project).
The grouping also works to introduce Smart City solutions: an electric bus will run between Komárom and Komárno, and local residents and tourists can use smart bus stops (KN-KN ImproTrans).
Under the SKHU Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary cooperation programme the grouping is implementing a territorial employment action plan, establishing innovation labs in Komárno and Tata. The Slovakian project, a FabLab Innovation Centre in Komárno, will be built by Pons Danubii (NOVUM DANUVIUM TAPE – Complex innovation program for creating jobs in the Pons Danubii Region).

Via Carpatia EGTC Limited
The Via Carpatia European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation was established in 2013. The founding members are the Košice Self-governing Region and the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Municipality.
The objective of the EGTC is to facilitate and promote cross-border, national and regional cooperation and to increase economic and social cohesion between the two counties. The key development objectives of the Via Carpatia EGTC: to present and preserve the natural, cultural and historical heritage of Košice and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén counties; to provide long term support to small and medium-sized enterprises through active cross-border cooperation, which can unify the area concerned; to manage the Little Project Fund; to facilitate the integration of the Via Carpatia transit route to the TEN-T network; to provide consultancy in the area of regional development.
Currently the biggest challenge the Via Carpatia EGTC is facing is the management and successful implementation of the Little Project Fund under the Interreg V-A SKHU Cooperation Programme and the Cross-Border Action Plan for Employment. The Little Project Fund is an instrument to support small-scale grant applications, and it greatly contributes to the development and increasing competitiveness of the counties concerned. New jobs are created under the Action Plan for Employment, resulting in a decrease in the otherwise high unemployment rate in the region.
