RegioNetwork 2020 is an on-line professional networking platform for cooperation and exchange of good practice between European regions.
The site allows users to:
• Set up and contribute to thematic groups
• Share examples of good practice
• Create profiles for a region
• Create profiles for an individual
• Follow the activities of regions and individuals
The European Commission hopes that RegioNetwork 2020 will contribute towards the Europe 2020 strategy by involving local and regional stakeholders in the development and delivery of policy, as well as supporting exchanges of good practice. RegioNetwork 2020 is open to anyone who has an interest in the European Union and regional development.
The regional profiles will initially be limited to the regions that are officially responsible for operational programmes under the EU's Structural Funds. Depending on the Member State concerned, these are either so-called NUTS 2 regions or NUTS 1 regions in a few particular cases (see here for the definition and list).
Users who are not an official representative of these regions as listed should, therefore, register as individuals.
